TAKE THE TEST: Are you a Complainer or Explainer?
December 17th, 2007 . by 20/20 John WingertHey mate,
As you know, excuses don’t pay the bills, they don’t make you happy or healthy, and they cost you far more than you can imagine.
Your life will either be results driven or full of empty excuses. You pick!
“The key to living an excuse free life is to simply notice how many excuses you make, and every time you notice yourself verbally making an excuse, move that caribiner.”
Since you have committed to improving your life, by moving that caribiner and noticing how many excuses you used to let slide, you will naturally start making less excuses.
As you naturally start feeling better about yourself, enjoying the results you are getting since you don’t have to manufacture excuses so many times a day…
So just yesterday, I received an email asking me about the kinds of people who make excuses. Since you asked, here is a great summary:
There are two major kinds of people who make excuses: Complainers and Explainers.
Which one are you?
COMMON PHRASES OF EXPLAINERS:
1. Do you ever hear yourself saying, “Let me tell you what happened?”
2. Is one of your favorite sayings, “If Jimmy Buck got elected, then I could…”
3. Does this sound familiar, “We got busy, so I didn’t get xyz done….”
Explainers have to give you an explanation, a reason why. Explainers have to give you a reason, because they were EXPECTED to have done something, or gotten a specific result.
THE COMPLAINER LIFESTYLE
Complainers on the other hand have a very different life strategy.
Complainers will often just talk about how bad it is, nonstop. They will tell you how their health sucks, or what the problem with the government is.
“Complainers just go through life, commenting about how bad it is, and often don’t even get asked to help or participate in a project. They don’t get approached or put in a position of responsiblity because you know BEFORE HAND that they will either complain or not perform.”
Most people who Take The Excuse Free Life Challenge can immediately identify with being more of an explainer, than a complainer, because complainers wouldn’t dream of taking action. They would be too busy commenting on the problems.
And while you are here, why not order up some caribiners and transform your world!
Keep your emails coming and thank you for making a difference!
